How to Chop Green Onions
Whenever a recipe calls for chopped green onions {also called scallions}, I've always just sliced them. But this trick makes it so they're actually being chopped. Here's a tip for dummies like me. :)
Ingredients:
3 large green onions
Preparation:
Place several onions on a cutting board. Trim off the stringy root ends and discard. Then trim 2 inches from the green tops and discard. Cut each green onion in half lengthwise from the white base up through the green stalk. Layer halved green onions again; slice each stalk crosswise into desired size pieces to get chopped green onions.
Equals 3 tablespoons chopped green onions.
