Baylee’s Sugar Cookies



COOKIES:

Preheat oven to 400°


3/4 c shortening

1 c sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Mix together. Then add dry ingredients…


2 1/2 c flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt


Mix again. Flour surface, roll out dough evenly, cut into shapes. Bake for 6-8 minutes. Cool cookies completely before icing and decorating. 

Makes about 30 cookies

Jen’s Favorite Almond Icing:


  • 1/2 cup salted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2-6 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • food coloring 

Instructions


  • Use your electric hand mixer to cream the butter until smooth.
  • Add in the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, alternating with the extracts and the heavy cream until all of the powdered sugar has been incorporated. The frosting should be smooth and thick.
  • Add food coloring to dye the frosting.

Makes 25 (14g) servings
