Apple Pie with Cinnamon Roll Crust

Apple Pie with Cinnamon Roll Crust

Ingredients:

1 can cinnamon rolls, 8 count

1 - 21oz can apple pie filling

Premium caramel sauce topping, like Ghirardelli

1 package premade pie crusts (2 count box)

1 egg

1 tblsp heavy cream or milk

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375°. Set out premade pie crusts on the counter to bring it to room temperature.

Roll out flat each cinnamon roll on a floured surface. Press into greased pie plate. Pour in the can of apple pie filling. Generously squeeze caramel sauce over filling - measure with your heart here. :)

Unroll premade pie crusts. Using a pie cutter of choice (or a small cookie cutter), cut a design on the top crust, then lay over filling, pinching the edges together. It doesn’t need to be perfect.

Next, make an egg wash -  In a small bowl, beat to combine 1 egg and 1 tblsp heavy cream or milk. Brush pie edges with egg wash, set aside the remaining wash.

Using the second pie crust, cut out more pieces for the edges of your crust. Place pieces over egg washed pie edges. Then brush entire pie with a little egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar, and a little bit of flakey salt.

Cover edges with aluminum foil to prevent burning, and place pie on a baking sheet.

Bake for 40-50 minutes. Cool completely before cutting. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with more caramel sauce. So good!
